Alaska Day 2 - Tracy Arm Fjord

When sailing to Alaska, you may notice the cruise you have chosen goes to Tracy Arm Fjord, but there are excursions to choose from.  You might not give it another thought as you focus on the port destinations and the excursions they offer.  Well, this is not a cruise by, this could be the highlight of your entire trip and you don't want to miss it!
The only way I can describe Tracy Arm is "breathless beauty". Standing on my verandah in the silence of mother nature was a moment I will not forget.  The magical layers of clouds and mist over the mountains and hovering in the steep valleys, thousands of waterfalls stories high, chunks of ice the size of trucks floating by, bald eagles soaring, all the while your ship is passing so slowly and quietly you think it must be a dream.
Our ship entered the fjord at 6:00 AM for the journey just under four hours.  The Celebrity Solstice provides an on board Naturalist, Brent Nixon, who provided a soothing, quiet narration as we made our way through. This was a bonus to the experience.  His extensive knowledge allowed us to enjoy what we seeing at a much higher level of understanding and appreciation.
We were very fortunate on our trip to have the conditions that allowed the Celebrity Solstice, to line the ship up for an incredible view of Sawyers Glacier.  The early morning light and just enough sun allow the glacier to shine in the most amazing blue colors making it the perfect addition to the fairytale experience.
Tracy Arm is located about forty five miles south of Juneau, AK, within the 653,179 acres of Tracy of Arms-Fords Terror Wilderness.
